Lesson 2 ( This lesson focuses on the fact that nothing can separate us from the Love of God)
Last week on the prayer line we finished lesson 2 “Courage when faith deserts you.” This lesson was split into 3 sections:
I. Take Courage from the strength of God’s love
a. God’s Love is stronger than the pressures you face.

c. God’s Love is stronger than Persecution.
d. God’s Love is stronger than Privation.
e. God’s Love is stronger than Poverty.

II. Take courage from the Success of God’s Love
III. Take Courage from the safety of Christ’s Love
a. Not the crisis of death nor the calamities of life
b. Not the interventions of angels nor the intrusion of demons
c. Not the cares of today nor the concerns of tomorrow
d. Not the infliction from heaven nor the advances of Hell
e. Not anything actual or possible
Lesson 2 discussed how the apostle Paul truly had given much thought to the subject of God’s love. The first section starts off by telling us to take strength from the courage of God’s love placing a focus on Romans 8:35-36 (35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
Paul is saying that nothing can separate us from God’s love. Nothing you could ever think of or imagine could keep our heavenly father from loving you. This is such an important point because sometimes we limit God to our type of love which happens to be temperamental, situational or one could even say seasonal. Based on what a person may be going through their love could change. But our God’s love is so much more. It is constant, he is the same yesterday today and tomorrow ( Hebrews 13:8)
The study guide breaks down the definitions of pressure, pain, persecution, privation, poverty, peril and prison so that the reader gets a full understanding of what Paul meant by nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. The lesson continues on by discussing the remainder of Romans 8:37-39 (37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b]neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. NIV)
Dr. David Jeremiah in the closing of this lesson discusses the story of George Matheson who was blind by the age of eighteen. He was respected, loved and he pastored several churches in Scotland. Matheson was engaged to be married to a young woman; but she suddenly broke it off stating that she could never be married to a blind man. The fickle love of a fiancée let George Matheson go, but the love of God would not let him go. Even when we are not able to hold on to God he will hold on to us( 2 Timothy 2:13) (Page 31 Courage when faith deserts you)
As I read the remainder of the lesson and this story I thought to myself this is so true people change all the time with their moods and feelings and we place our faith in them. When truly our faith needs to be in God alone who heals, restores and delivers us.
