I can not believe we are half way through February. 2018 so far has been filled with joy, pain, sunshine and rain, laughter, tears and conquering some of my biggest fears. However, as I entered this year my mind was set on 2018 being my best year yet, as I reflected on this thought my vision board came to mind. The Ultimate Vision Board Experience also came to mind and the things I declared I would achieve. Additionally reading, more and more reading was one of the things I also had on my vision board. I want to consume my mind with positive, inspirational and educational books.
Statistics say that Americans read an average of 12 books per year, while the typical American has read only 4 books in the last 12 months. This is crazy right? I would like to change this statistic and challenge you this year to read with me. It doesn’t matter you indulge in an audiobook or paperback. Just fill your mind with things that are going to add to your life and not take away from it. You may be asking yourself, “What does she mean by that”? Many times we find ourselves spending our time with celebrity talk shows, Reality TV, and Scandal, along with may other things that have the tendency to have adultery, nudity, and drama in them. Now these things may be very entertaining, I too find myself getting lost in Grey’s Anatomy and many other shows. However I did a little searching and stumbled on a study that said the average American adult watches 5 hours of TV daily and 35 hours of TV per week. We constantly talk about how there is not enough time in a day and the majority of us are spending it in front of a TV.
So this year I said to myself not me. I want to be different. I want to spend my time on things that are going to add to my dreams, desires and aspirations. Things that are going to propel me forward and not cause me to focus on negativity, doubt or confusion.
