The Fight in me!

My alarm went off at 3:00 this morning and I ignored it. It went off again at 3:30 and I began to slowly get up knowing that I needed to be at the gym by 4:30 at the latest. Tired and a bit grouchy I began to get my self together thinking about how great the bed felt and maybe I should get back into it. No, no I thought to myself you can’t get any where in the bed, mind over matter, let’s get it, it’s time to work! I made it to the gym and my favorite crew of title boxing trainers where there and together we started a circuit. Dumb bell squats, dead lifts, battle rope squat work, uppercut bag work and then last but certainly not least ring work. Roll, Roll uppercut hook, roll, roll uppercut hook the trainer persisted again and again until the bell and then back to the dumb bell squats. We repeated the circuit three times. Tired, sweaty and sore, I thought to my self, “it’s almost the end” and I started feeling excited. But wait a minute, no… no the trainer had other plans. Back in the ring he stated, I want you to throw different combinations and move around the ring. Be sure to move slip and roll! If I grab you, then you need to roll out of it or push me off and continue to work”.  So I began to punch. Jab, cross, hook, hook. With each combination I moved around the ring growing tired and frustrated because these long arms challenged me. Again and again I moved and rolled feeling weak, wanting to quit and then the bell rung. Thank God! I though to myself, this was hard but I made it harder because I am my greatest opponent. My mentality will either limit me or push me past the pain I felt. So I pushed through knowing that in the midst of the struggle or trial or in my situation, these long arms swinging at me there was a lesson to be learned. How do you react in the midst of trials? I want to encourage you to build the fight in you so that when the enemy throws a blow it doesn’t knock you out. Through your preparation such as reading the Bible and daily prayer you start to practice operating in the fruit of the spirit such as love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. This will allow you to see the fight for what it is, preparation for all that God has in store for you. remember, the weapons we fight with are not weapons of the world, they have divine power to demolish strong holds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

My fight this morning was me overcoming me and realizing that with God no matter what struggle, strong hold or fight I am in I always have the victory!
